Florals have become one of my favorite patterns to wear recently: see here. This pattern always looks pretty and feminine to me, and while it is a timeless classic for spring, it seems a bit more fun and unexpected in the fall. The trick for keeping florals from looking to springy is to choose pieces in darker shades and pair them with fall staples, such as tall boots. I kept this look simple because I love this dress so much I didn’t think it needed anything else; however, as the weather continues to get cooler, I plan on wearing it with tights and a leather jacket. Florals in the fall…rules are made to be broken, right?!

So yesterday I posted about how great capes are and here I am today wearing one. Any outfit that can be chic and cozy at the same time is my kind of outfit. This cozy cape from Val’s Boutique is under $60! I love the plaid pattern and the fringe detail. Some of my favorite pieces have been from Val’s Boutique. If you are in my hometown of Knoxville, TN you can shop at the adorable boutique, otherwise you can shop through Instagram, here.
This solid black sweater from Loft can be styled in many different ways. It is perfect for layering under capes and jackets, but I also plan on pairing it with dark denim and black tall boots for a semi-monochromatic look, layered over a white button up with leather pants, and with white denim and black heels for head to toe black and white. It is so versatile and this particular sweater is under $60 and is 40% off of that for the next 2 days! With the weather being all over the place, I haven’t worn sweaters as much as I normally would in the fall, but it’s nice on those days when I’m able to get all bundled up.
While capes are not exactly new, they are a big trend for fall and winter again this year. I mean who doesn’t want to dress like a superhero, right? Capes are so cozy and chic; and this year, they have gotten more interesting and come in many fabrics, colors and patterns. Above, I included some of my favorite (mostly) affordable capes for this season. Tell me, what do you guys think of capes?
