I’m not normally someone who subscribes to traditional rules when it comes to style – I wear white after Labor Day, I mix patterns, I combine all different shades of brown and black – but then again, traditional style rules don’t really apply when it comes to fashion anymore. Something else I tend to ignore is dressing for a certain age. I don’t believe one’s age should be the determining factor for what they wear. Certainly people’s taste changes as they get older, but I believe we should dress in a way that makes us feel good about ourselves. So if I want to wear a crop top in my thirties, I’m going to. This is one trend I have wanted to embrace for months, but I just now got the nerve to take the plunge. I realized I don’t have to expose a ton of skin when wearing a crop top…I could wear it in a way that felt comfortable to me. I decided to pair this nude Topshop version with a high waisted pencil skirt so just a sliver of skin is exposed. The twist front detail on this top gives a flattering shape and is interesting enough that you don’t need to add a lot to your outfit – plus, the long sleeves keep me warm on chilly days. It’s the perfect piece for a night out in the fall or winter.
