I recently decided to pick up Marie Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. My husband and I both have trouble getting rid of things so, needless to say, are house is full of stuff…too much stuff. For a while now I have been wanting to simplify and declutter but I didn’t know where to start. Then I started seeing this book pop up on various blogs and read all of the success stories and knew it was exactly what we needed. We have not begun our quest for decluttering because I have not finished the book, but I can not wait to accomplish this goal for a more simple life!
Now, I am not planning on doing a major purge of my closet and going down to just the basics…I love clothes too much for that. But I do plan on finally getting rid of those shoes I haven’t worn in 2 years and the halter top I’ve had since college (yeah it’s bad). While I am planning on keeping a lot of the items in my closet, reading this book the past week has had me in the mindset to simplify, and that carried over into my outfit choice over the weekend. Sometimes pairing a bright colored sweater with denim and heels is all you need. This J. Crew sweater is one of my favorites. This shade of blue that I’m wearing is sold out, but there are many different colors available. I’m actually thinking about scooping up this blush colored one.
I will be sure to post updates on my progress of the decluttering and organizing project! And I will let you know if it is, indeed, life-changing so you can go out and buy a copy for yourself.
