On Sunday, my husband and I decided to take the kids to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. It is a little less than an hour from our house so we frequently visit there in the summers. Over the years, I have learned by trial and error what to wear and what not to wear when spending the day at a theme park.
The first lesson I learned was not to even waste my time styling my hair. When we first started going to Busch Gardens, I would spend time drying and straightening my hair only to have it up in a ponytail within the first hour because it was too hot to have my hair around my neck and shoulders. Now, I just throw my hair up in a high bun when it’s still wet. It saves time in the morning, keeps my neck and shoulders cool, and it is high enough so that it doesn’t get all messed up from the rides.
Secondly, comfortable shorts are the absolute best thing to wear to a theme park. Obviously shorts keep you cool, but having a comfortable pair is really key for all of the walking you do (and eating 😉 ). This pair is actually one size fits all and is made out of the softest material…I love them!
Last but not least…shoes! Wearing a pair of uncomfortable shoes to a theme park can really ruin your day. I like to wear sandals instead of tennis shoes or flats to keep my feet cool, but they have to be comfortable! Also, I stopped wearing flip-flops to Busch Gardens a few years ago when one of my Rainbows flew off of my foot while riding a roller coaster. I had to spend the rest of the day walking around in those thin, uncomfortable flip-flops they give you when you get a pedicure…and my shoe was never to be found. These sandals zip in the back and will definitely not fall off of my feet.
So there you have it! If any of you are visiting a theme park this summer, I hope this post will help you out.
